BRIEF INTRODUCTION

The jewel box is an E-commerce app that makes full use of Augmented Reality to help people buy the most eye-popping jewelry which suits their style. It not only shows users how a particular selection of jewelry look when they wear it but also provides them with recommendations and comparisons between multiple pieces of jewelry.

"Try on" before buy

JewelBox uses Augmented Reality to let you "try on" any jewelry before adding them to your cart! Using your phone's camera, the app automatically places the jewelry. on you for you to see how it looks

Personalized recommendation based on your style

Recommendations on the bottom provide you a large library of jewelry based on your style. Explore hundreds of new recommendations with just a swipe.

Compare different styles to choose what's the best

Upload of an image of the body part where the jewelry goes to compare different styles of jewelry using Augmented Reality. Comparisons of various styles using AR not only make your decision quick and reliable but also help in choosing the best gifts- for you or for your beloved ones! You may also save the AR images to consult with others before you decide on your purchase.

· 01 PROBLEMS ·

Using applications to buy jewelry can be difficult as jewelry images may mislead users into buying jewelry that is not their taste. However, shopping online could be easy and convenient if they use Augmented reality.

A design challenge emerged....

How could I design a jewelry application using Augmented reality?

· 02 APPROACH ·

ONLINE SHOPPING

-Omnichannel shopping experience

In the traditional way, people buy jewelry on the store.  However, there are a lot of advantages to online shopping. Moreover, online and offline would work together to gain more benefits and provides a better experience for users.

online+on-store

In research, I found out people, especially women love style exploration. Spend time on style exploration is not only interesting and relaxing but also a wonderful way for users to know what style suits them.

For online shopping, people care more about style other than budget. The digital number presents price would reduce the feeling of spending. They can spend as much time as they want and shop on anytime any place. There are more brands and options online.

CASE ANALYSIS

Based on the goal to let users know how jewelry suits them, I searched for some different applications to find out the way to accomplish this goal.

There is a main technology those applications were investigated: Augmented Reality.

AUGMENTED REALITY

-Vuforia

Vuforia is widely known as the industry leader in industrial augmented reality through its best-in-class computer vision technology. When the camera captures the part of the body where the user wears jewelry, it places the jewelry.

USER FLOW

After the survey, I brainstormed the application’s features. Based on the results of brainstorming, I created a user flow diagram to determine the most necessary features.

The key areas of this application are showing jewelry to help users explore style and showing jewelry in AR. Based on the key areas and surveys I conducted, I drew these wireframes in three styles.

After creating our prototype from low fidelity wireframes, I prepared a 16 question survey for participants to fill out before we began conducting a usability test.

I found that most users who were looking to more clear interface for showing jewelry.

In the AR screen of an item, users want to stay on exprole page meanwhile they could buy it or save it in wish list.

They want the style expolration process to be quick and simple.

· 05 TESTING ·

I conducted testing for the final vision prototype. I asked 16 different participants to run through different scenarios in our prototype in hopes of garnering enough feedback.

In this testing, I focus on four things.

  1. AR page
  2. interaction
  3. information and style exploration

"I like the style exploration idea! The interaction way could be better."

"Information is clear and easy to understand in product page and AR page."

· 06 Next step ·

After user testing, there are nest steps for Jewelry box.

  • Creating omnichannel for the Jewelry box. Omnichannel implies integration and orchestration of online store and in-store experience.
  • Creating a way to attract users for both of high fashion jewelry and normal jewelry.
  • Creating a better AR and 3D modeling solution.
